Safe Summer Youth Explosion 2012 Saturday June 9th!

"Safe Summer Youth Explosion 2012" is the brainchild of 16th Ward Alderman, JoAnn Thompson and the 16th Ward resident LaTanya Johnson to address the issues of youth violence, unemployment and its effects on the community.

9AM - 3PM

Kennedy King College
740 W. 63rd
Chicago IL 60621

Alderman Thompson, Ms. Johnson, and a host of community activists and business leaders are bringing youth ages 14 - 18 from the 16th Ward together to discuss issues that are important to them.

The youth will have the opportunity to participate in break-out ssessions ranging from how to prepare for a job interview and the effective uses of social media to the importance of breaking the "Code of Silence" in their communities to stop the violence.

In addition, resource information for summer programs and employment will be made available to the approximate 300 youth expected to attend.
