Alderman Sawyer Urges the Sixth Ward to Buy Local

ALDERMAN SAWYER ENCOURAGES THE SIXTH WARD TO BUY LOCAL

Alderman Roderick T. Sawyer of the 6th Ward announces his support for the citywide buy local campaign.  The campaign, supported by the city of Chicago, and locally by SSA #51 and the Chatham Business Association, encourages people to spend at least $100 of their holiday shopping funds in local small businesses.

I think this is a great way to spotlight some of our great local businesses that people seem to have forgotten about,” Alderman Sawyer said, “Whether it is grabbing some music at Fletcher’s, a holiday arrangement from Flower’s First,  a cake from Brown Sugar or a Piece of Cake, or some food from Curt’s or Deli King in Englewood,  the 6th Ward has plenty of great businesses that have a strong history and bright future.”

The 6th Ward has historically had one of the largest concentrations of black businesses and entrepreneurs in the city of Chicago.   Alderman Sawyer is committed to revitalizing all of the arterial and business streets in the ward as part of his plan to increase economic development as well as safety in the community.
