Chicago HOPES for Kids, a non-profit organization that provides educational support to children living in homeless shelters throughout Chicago, is beginning a program-site in Englewood with our partner shelter, Primo Center for Women and Children.
The organization currently serves children living in homeless shelters throughout the city by providing an after-school program that includes homework help, literacy support, and various enrichment activites such as arts, cooking, and science.
The program is designed to provide students with the academic support they need to succeed in school. This is neccessary because homelessness creates many barriers to children recieving this support.
Our winter/spring program at Primo Center for Women and Children in Englewood will begin on Feburary 20th and run through June 1st. The program will be located at 6214 S. Sangamon St. and will be held from 4-6 PM every Monday-Thursday.
We are currently looking for volunteers from the Englewood community to work with our kids. Volunteers select one-day per week that they can commit to volunteering for the semester. If you would like to work with our kids, please e-mail volunteer@chicagohopesforkids.org or check out our volunteer page here: http://www.chicagohopesforkids.org/after-school-volunteers
