Volunteer at Hope High School!

In just a few weeks, Open Books will bring ReadThenWrite, a program that pairs dedicated volunteers with teens for a reading, writing, and publishing experience, to Hope College Prep High School, and we need more volunteers to make the program a success!

ReadThenWrite volunteers work in small groups of 10th grade students, supporting them through long-term reading and writing projects, all while building meaningful relationships with our young authors. In this session, we will be reading There Are No Children Here by Alex Kotlowitz, which should lead to some especially thought-provoking discussion. Students will also focus on one piece of creative non-fiction over the course of the entire session, and Open Books will publish this work and share the newly printed books with students and volunteers at an Author Launch party at the Open Books Store.

Details on our session at Hope below. Anyone interested in volunteering can fill out our sign-up form, email volunteer@open-books.org, or call me (Ava) directly at 312.475.1355 x119.
