Englewood Reacts To Zimmerman's Not Guilty Verdict

Ministers, civil rights leaders, activists and even President Obama asked the public to remain calm and keep the protests peaceful. Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., spoke out about the verdict, stating, and “I think the verdict was unjust I believe that the case law was not applied."

In the Englewood community, the reactions were mixed.

Currently there is an online petition at the National Action Network website calling for the Department of Justice to re-launch an investigation of George Zimmerman to determine if Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated. Civil rights leaders like Rev. Al Sharpton, president of National Action Network are pressing the federal government to bring charges against George Zimmerman; they're holding rallies in 100 cities the weekend of July 19, 2013.
