A Campaign for a Youth and Family Community Center in Englewood
Got swag? Got Skills? It’s “Open Mic” Time on Saturday, April 7, 2012, 1-4 p.m. at Imagine Englewood if, 730 W. 69th St. in Chicago. Wrap up Spring Break by showcasing your positive rap and poetry skills at the “Pocket Change 4 Youth” Youth Summit. The event is a response to the increased violence in the Englewood Community, and seeks to rally youth support for a Youth and Family Community Center, where our young people can congregate safe from harm or fear.
Special Guest will be Shango Johnson, Violence Interrupter for CEASEFIRE, producers of "The Interrupters" film. Awards will be presented to winners of the PC4Y Essay Contest titled, “Why Englewood Needs a Youth Center”. Entertainment and a live DJ will be featured, in addition to food and refreshments.
