Chicago Black Authors Network, the premier network of professional black authors in the City of Chicago and in the Midwest, are made of 12 core members and 20 to 25 affiliates of published and unpublished books of cultural significance to the African American community in many fiction, non-fiction, essays, short stories, children’s books and other mediums of literary contributions. The network is a community collaboration consisting of seasoned writers, publishers, editors, and even writing novices. Its goals are to conduct business in the local and national writer’s market, to help establish up and coming writers, and to assist well-established black authors and publishers promote their literary works.
The Chicago Black Authors Network members plan and host book fairs, festivals and attend national events. Their meetings are always open to the public and new members are encouraged to attend and share their writing ideas and network with other writers to support their work.
Founded in November 2009 by Darryl Harvey, the Chicago Black Author’s Network meets the first Saturday of each month at the West Englewood Branch of the Chicago Public Library, 12:00pm – 2:00pm. Mr. Harvey has lifelong experience as a writer and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Northern Illinois University. He has written and published four children’s books, and three adult novels.
