Teens Now Have Greater Access to Primary Medical Care

CHICAGO – February 10, 2016 – The Erie Teen Center, the Chicago area’s only freestanding health center providing specialized services just for teens and young adults, has moved, is expanding its hours and offering more confidential space for teens at its new location in Humboldt Park. And to help celebrate these changes, Echoes of Chicago is hosting a post Valentine’s Day event—Love Not Lost – showcasing music and artistic pieces that reflect on love with proceeds partially supporting Erie’s Teen Center.

The Erie Teen Center is a comprehensive health clinic that provides primary medical care ranging from reproductive health services and pregnancy testing to STI/HIV counseling and behavioral health counseling. The Center relocated to 2418 W. Division in November 2015 to better serve the needs of the area’s growing teen and young adult population.

On February 20 the Love Not Lost benefit will raise awareness of the importance of confidential health services for teenagers, who are faced with adversity, poverty and difficult life challenges. The benefit brings together members of the local arts community, local musicians and Chicago residents and is supported by local brewers and distillers.

“This event invites the community to reflect on their understanding of love and how it plays an important role in shaping the lives of teenagers and young adults,” said Robin Varnado, Erie’s Director of Behavioral and Adolescent Health. “Echoes of Chicago’s support will benefit a neighborhood clinic for teens that offers confidential services and a respectful, nonjudgmental environment that is teen-friendly. We are grateful for the volunteerism of talented artists for Love Not Lost and the community’s support.”

The Love Not Lost benefit is being hosted by Echoes of Chicago, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating affordable, innovative arts and music events that promote Chicago culture and community while raising awareness and funds for local nonprofits.
