Englewood Langston Hughes Theater Ministry at Bethel Terrace, in association with NAKO-Chicago Chapter, and Englewood This Far By Faith Lutheran Campus Ministries (ENTRIES) will host a Kwanzaa Candle Lighting Service and Reception on Thursday, December 29th, 6 PM, in the Fellowship Dining Room on the Main Floor of Bethel Terrace Co-op Senior Apartments, just two blocks North of Kennedy-King College-in the heart of Chicago's Englewood community.
The 4th Day of Kwanzaa event will observe the Pan-African Holiday's 4th Principle which is, first in Swahili then in English, Ujamaa-Cooperative Economics.
NAKO-Chicago Chapter, the Englewood-based Kawaida African Philosophy Group, itself founded and led nationally by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Professor and Chair of Africana Studies, Cal State ULB and the creator of Kwanzaa, will conduct the Englewood Kwanzaa Candle Lighting Service and co-host its following reception.
Englewood Langston Hughes Theater Ministry at Bethel Terrace will present selections from Langston Hughes's African World poetry.
A coffee, tea, and sweets reception will follow.
